1st Day of School

Yes, the 1st day of school was actually last Wednesday but these pictures were taken on that day - I promise!  Julee is in 8th grade this year and already very busy.  She is in 3 advanced courses (Math, Science, and English) and playing on the modified volleyball team.  Advanced classes equal a fair amount of homework and volleyball means practice and/or games everyday after school through the end of October.  Alexis is now in 4th grade and loving it.  She always claims to hate school but I think she just thinks she has to say that.  She was very excited to bring home her after school clubs form yesterday and attempted to sign up for everything!  We convinced her that 3 was enough considering she has Faith in God activities every other Wednesday.  We are glad that both girls are liking all their teachers and seem to be off to a great start!

Okay, this is probably a little inappropriate but my family got quite a kick out of the fact that this tomato looked just like a little baby's bottom.  I won't mention it all happened on a Sunday......

Homemade Ziti

A little while ago I made this yummy ziti using whole grain pasta, low-fat ricotta cheese, italian turkey sausage, low-fat mozarella, and homemade marinara sauce.  By doing this, I was able to cut the calories and fat by more than half!  The best part - it tasted better than the old way I used to make it!

For the car lover in all of us

Even if you are not a lover of all things cars, you have to truly appreciate seeing this first hand....

And if you don't appreciate the car, you will appreciate that Mr. & Mrs. Dressed to the Nines got out and enjoyed steak and all-you-can-eat buffet at the less than elegant Ponderosa Steak House!

Today is the Day!!

After 5 very long weeks, the girls are coming home today!

We are glad they have had a fun time in Florida visiting their dad and Elena, but we are really excited for them to come home!  I know they have taken tons of pictures of their Florida adventures that they want to share with you (every time I talked to them they had something new to blog about), but you will have to wait your turn.  For now I think we will be a little bit selfish and keep them all to ourselves.

Today those of us here in New York finally caught a break from the humid misery that has been our norm.  Though we topped out at a breezy 76* today, I'm sure many of you are still sweltering.  So to assure all of our beloved family and friends (especially those in Arizona who think temperatures should always include 3 digits) that we have not forgotten you:
